Rajan Dewar, MD, PhD, Medical Director of Automated Hematology Laboratory BIDMC and Medical Director of Molecular Pathology, gave the keynote address celebrating innovation and encouraging scientists and clinicians to be a part of innovation today.
Rajan Dewar, MD, PhD, is a board-certified hematopathologist, director of automated hematology, clinical faculty member and an Instructor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has 15 years of clinical and research experience. He directs the clinical hematology laboratory responsible for automated hematology, and as part of this operation, he has overseen projects involving automated cellular imaging and telediagnosis (CellaVision & development of an Ipad based telepathology system). In recent years, Rajan has been heavily involved in global health operations involving cervical cancer screening in Tamilnadu, India. As chairperson of the molecular pathology, sub-committee of AIPNA, they are studying a cost effective screening strategy for cervical cancer. This compares, HPV based diagnosis with slide based cervical cancer screening.
