MassTLC’s 2014 Conference Recap: Transforming Healthcare Through Technology & Innovation

On Wednesday, December 3, 2014, the Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC), the region’s leading technology association and the premier network for tech executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and policy leaders, held it’s 2014 Healthcare Conference with focuses on how the landscape is changing and creating opportunities unlike any time before.

The day kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Roy Smythe, MD, Chief Executive Officer of HX360 and Chief Medical Officer of Avia, who described “tectonic” shifts int he healthcare landscape. These shifts lie in the changing payment models, technology and care delivery. The key is that all components of our system have to change in order for real innovation to occur.

Highlights from the conference touched on the importance of security and data privacy, innovations in clinical research models, innovations in care environments and delivery, the impact of predictive analytics and the digital consumer. The afternoon finished with lessons learned from Naomi Fried, PhD, the first Chief Innovation Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital.
