Trishan Panch, MD, MPH, is the co-founder of Wellframe, turning complex care plans into personalized digital checklists. He believes that Wellframe’s success stems from the collision of three opportunities: helping manage chronic illnesses, the ability to collaborate, and bringing care to customers who are often overlooked (the severely mentally ill and immigrants). Panch also recommends bringing technological solutions to customers as an extension, rather than a replacement, of traditional care settings.
He predicts that giant leaps in tailored evidence-based prevention will make care protocols not just personalized but also adaptive. “I know it sounds futuristic and a bit Orwellian,” Panch says. “Essentially, each person will have their own cloud system in shadow monitoring their needs and alerting the healthcare system as they emerge.”
When it comes to his own work, Panch believes in the “stay hungry, stay humble” motto. He hopes to continue directing his work in computation, leveraging a broader symphony of genomics to make the world more productive. When asked about his life vision 40 years from now, his fatherly pride emerges. “My beautiful one year old daughter, Lucia Laksmi, and our unborn child will be adults and maybe with their own kids,” he says. “As I smile at her smiling at me, I sincerely hope that I am still here smiling, and making the world more productive, safer and fair.”
