Call for Submissions! The Fit Mind Challenge

fitmindchallenge_300x300Partners HealthCare Connected Health, in collaboration with MedTech Boston and Medstro, are excited to announce our upcoming innovation challenge, “The Fit Mind: Supporting Cognitive Function as we Age.”

Advances in medicine have the promise to extend lifespan to 100 years or beyond, yet with age often comes cognitive impairment. Dementia affects approximately 2.4 to 5.5 million Americans. Its prevalence increases with age, to 5% in persons aged 71 to 79 years, 24% in those aged 80 to 89 years, and 37% in those older than 90 years. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is less severe than dementia, and often goes undetected. Estimates of the prevalence of MCI range widely, from 3% to 42% in adults aged 65 years and older.

The Fit Mind Challenge is an open call for solutions to support cognitive function in an aging population. These solutions can be technologies, apps, sensors, policies, awareness campaigns, education initiatives (including provider, patient and public education) or other connected health solutions.

The online challenge will run for three months beginning June 16, during which time the panel of judges and the community at large can offer feedback and suggestions to each team, who can then refine their submission up until the submission deadline. After that, finalists will be determined based on a combination of online voting and the votes of the panel of judges.

Fit Mind Challenge Dates

The finalists of the online challenge will be invited to pitch their ideas in front of a live audience of 1200 on the main stage at the Connected Health Symposium on October 20. A live panel of judges will grill the finalists with tough questions “Shark Tank” style and then choose a winner.

Submissions are now open—submit your idea today!
