The 2017 MedTech Boston 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovators

9. Christopher Libby, MPH
Chair of the American Medical Association Medical Student Section

Christopher Libby, MPHChristopher Libby is an M.D. candidate at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. While applying to medical school, he became a consultant with Galen Healthcare Solutions, an experience that motivated him to explore “how health IT works and how new technologies can empower the advocates of the future.”

Serving as Chair of the AMA Medical Student Section, Libby works with the board of trustees and the Government Relations and Advocacy Fellow to shape the educational and advocacy priorities of the student section. So far, the policies the “students have passed have actually changed AMA policy and hopefully to the future of healthcare.”

The most rewarding part of his career, Libby says, is getting the “privilege of seeing how empowering others makes the world around me a better place.”

In his free time, Libby enjoys cooking, snowboarding, and traveling. He’s also involved in the Kelley Backpacks Program, which provides backpacks full of supplies to children entering foster care from the hospital.
