The 2017 MedTech Boston 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovators

36. Sarbattama (Rimi) Sen, MD
Neonatologist, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School

Sarbattama (Rimi) Sen, MDSarbattama (Rimi) Sen has always known that she wanted to work with families and children. Her work as neonatologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School provides her with the opportunity to realize this goal, while also allowing her to pursue challenging research questions.

Says Sen, “working with children and their families through the challenges and joys of their babies’ first days and months is a great honor.” She also enjoys translating clinical problems into research questions, and finding solutions and improvements to patient care.

Her current research focuses on children of obese mothers and understanding why they face health and developmental challenges throughout their lifespan. Says Rimi, “my overall goal is to devise feasible, focused interventions to improve outcomes for obese mothers and their infants.”

Away from work, Rimi enjoys spending her free time with her family and running.
