The 2017 MedTech Boston 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovators

37. Valmeek Kudesia, MD
Vice President of Clinical Informatics and System Design, Commonwealth Care Alliance

Valmeek Kudesia, MDValmeek Kudesia knows that you do not have to choose between your interests in order to innovate.

While studying Biomedical Engineering (BME) and then ENGMEDIC (BME and MD) at Boston University, Valmeek realized his ability to apply technology to healthcare systems. He describes it as being able to “speak and design in both languages.” He followed this up with a Clinical Informatics Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, leading to his now being a board-certified clinical informatician, and engineer, while practicing as an internist.

As Vice President of Clinical Informatics and System Design at the Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) he combines his skills and interests to serve a greater mission and purpose. He improves healthcare by combining his skills as a physician, informatician and engineer to bring “care-providers and patients closer together instead of wedging them apart.”

With a wife and two very young children, Kudesia loves to spend his sparse spare time sketching and drawing. He is a self-described “huge fan of Legos – which may not be surprising, as I am an engineer.”
