James A. Gardner, @jamesagardner, is a Boston-area sales and marketing professional with a passion for consumer technologies and all things health, web & social. He started his career with Procter & Gamble before earning his MBA at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Since then, James has served senior clients as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, led complex digital projects with Boston-area agencies, and built several high-performing marketing teams. He’s also been published and quoted in multiple professional publications, most recently CMSWire, CIO.com, eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, and MedTech Boston.
Pamela Bump is a candidate for the Master of Science in Media Ventures at Boston University. After receiving a B.A. for a dual major in Journalism and Communication Studies from Keene State College in 2014, she became the Web Editor and Social Media Expert at Taste for Life Magazine, an alternative health publication. She then served as Copy Editor at The Keene Sentinel, a daily newspaper in Keene, N.H. While editing daily city news and designing pages for print, she also managed, edited, and contributed to a weekly health section. As a Media Ventures student with a passion for health journalism, Pamela hopes to use her time at MedTech to expand storytelling skills, while learning about leadership and innovation in the media-startup industry.
Sarah Schroeder is a Masters of Public Health candidate at the University of Texas School of Public Health in Austin, TX. She is studying health promotion and behavioral sciences, with a concentration in health disparities. Sarah recently completed her practicum with the Texas Tribune, where she helped curate and develop stories for an online health newsletter. She is interested in using journalism and storytelling to highlight important health issues and empower readers to create a healthier world for themselves and others. As an editorial intern with MedTech Boston, she looks forward to learning more about medical technology, while further developing her skills as a health journalist. When not reading, writing, and learning about all things health-related, Sarah enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, and sewing garments.
Olivia hails from Vero Beach, Florida and is pursuing a B.S. in Health: Science, Society, and Policy at Brandeis University and a minor in journalism. When she graduates in May 2018, Olivia hopes to attend dental school and come back to the Northeast to practice. When she isn’t writing for MedTech Boston, she enjoys leading tours for the Brandeis Office of Admissions, working as a Massachusetts and nationally certified EMT with Brandeis Emergency Medical Corps, and previously wrote a weekly publication for Brandeis’ chapter of The Odyssey.
Shreya Iyer has found her calling in health communication. She believes we are in an exciting time in healthcare and is set to leave her mark in this field. She possesses an inquisitive mind, which comes in handy with her interest in writing. And although yellow may not flatter her, she strives to “be a sponge” by constantly learning and applying what she discovers to new context. She is currently a copywriter for a healthcare advertising agency and a writer for MedTech Boston. She was previously at Bayer Healthcare, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide.We recognize their efforts here
