The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF), Mad*Pow and Health 2.0 have launched a design challenge to reward innovative ideas for how to empower patients to take an active role in sharing information about hurdles in their life that impact health.
Submissions are due by Friday, June 27, 2014 and the best solutions will win a share of $10,000 in prize money. For more information about the challenge and to submit your idea, visit http://www.health2con.com/devchallenge/chcf-design-challenge.
There is growing consensus that healthcare providers must understand the hurdles in a patient’s life in order to provide effective care, but there is not yet a good way to engage patients to share this information. CHCF, Mad*Pow and Health 2.0 are challenging creative thinkers to develop a concept that prompts patients to think about their barriers to good health and feel comfortable sharing that information with providers.
Ideas may take a variety of forms ‘ including, but not limited to, mobile apps, websites, and paper or other non-digital solutions. An esteemed panel of judges, including Dr. Rishi Manchanda, author of ‘The Upstream Doctors: Medical Innovators Track Sickness to its Source’ and founder of HealthBegins will evaluate each submission based on originality, thoroughness, consideration of patient needs, and overall quality.
