Google – Autism Speaks Pitch Playground

Google and Autism Speaks are pleased to announce a half-day ‘Autism Pitch Playground’ March 12, at Google’s Cambridge campus. The competition will immediately follow Autism Speaks’ third annual Autism Investment Conference (AIC2015), at Boston’s Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center, March 10-11.
Advances in technology have led to the innovative implementation and development of applications for the autism community for tablet and mobile devices to wearable technologies.   The ‘Pitch Playground’ will showcase up-and-coming app developers as they compete for a cash award for the best new app. The award will be focus on the most promising digital apps designed to serve the unmet needs of the autism community. Platforms can include smartphones, tablets and wearable technology. (Learn more about last year’s ‘Autism Pitch Jam’ competitors and award winners here.)

The competition will also provide developers with visibility, and networking opportunities, while the cash award will help support their ongoing research, development and commercialization efforts.

Winning app ideas will be selected by both an expert judging panel and audience participation.

The half-day event will also include prize raffles and technology demonstrations from Google and other companies working to serve the needs of those with the disabilities.

James Ryan

Jim Ryan has spent the past 20 years building global markets for US-based telecommunications and enterprise technology companies. Mr. Ryan exited five startups (2 IPOs, 2 acquisitions, 1 Chapter 11) and now uses his expertise as one of the three founding partners of Farpoint Ventures helping startups from the US quickly build global sales channels and bring in revenues from overseas markets. Mr. Ryan has closed over $1B in export business for startups.

Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a Master's degree from Osaka University. He is a native speaker of Japanese, and is conversational in Mandarin Chinese and French.

In between meetings, he has climbed Mt. Rainier three times, finished the Boston Marathon and Cape Cod Marathon, climbed Mt. Washington in all four seasons and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon 10 times. He holds a Private Pilot license and enjoys flying his Cessna 172 around New England and beyond.
