Since the first wave of wearables, sensors, and trackers three years ago, everyone’s been excited about their potential to improve healthcare. The FitBits, Jawbones, and Misfits certainly seemed fun, were nice and shiny, and came in multiple colors. But clinicians knew that real change was a ways off–the reliability of the technology just wasn’t there. Well, times have changed.
Philips intends to change all of that with a medical-grade wearable biosensor that provides automatic measurements for at-risk patients in low acuity areas from the ED to the general ward. And Boston, lucky you, as the epicenter of digital health for the world, have them right in your backyard.
Recognizing that successful solutions today can’t happen in a bubble, Philips is eager to meet, work with, and support the innovation community at large. This also means putting their money with their mouth is–they are offering cash innovation prizes for the best ideas in their recent online competition.
In this online competition, the Philips Wearables and Chronic Care Challenge, clinicians, engineers, patients and entrepreneurs from around the country have been submitting their ideas to use wearable technology and the data generated by them to improve the lives of patients with chronic conditions. Submissions can be viewed at our online competition site.
Come and meet the Philips team, mingle with other innovators and see our finalists compete on stage on Tuesday, October 25 starting at 5:30PM. The five finalist teams from the online competition will compete in front of a live audience and a panel of expert judges to determine the winners of the $17,500 in cash prizes.
This event has limited seating so please reserve your tickets early!
